East Africa is a tourist destination that comprises of 5 countries, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi & Rwanda. These countries have national parks and reserves where wild animals can be found including mammals, reptiles, insects, trees and flowers. Besides these there are historic sites that can be visited like museums, volcanic sites like The Great Rift Valley, Lakes & rivers and even plantations for tea, coffee, maize, cotton, sisal, surgacane and many others.

The components that makes this a success are air transport, road transport, sea transport, hotels ,lodges,camps.These tourists  come to East Africa using different means of transport  ,air,road,sea and the accommodation, meals also depends on ones taste.

Flight Into/Out Of Kenya

Since  these tourists have different tastes and needs ,services and products have been segmented  to meet everyone's need  as follows, commercial flights ,private charter flights,V.I.P Executive  jet  flights which serves the purpose as per the request  received.

Some tourists would arrive on commercial flights and proceed on private charters through out their journey and some opt for road transport or use commercial flights to the national parks & reserves .Other tourists would prefer private charter from airport of departure to country of destination have it parked at international airport as some of the jets cannot fly into national parks & reserves due to the unserviceability of the airstrips. In Kenya the national parks & reserves are served by Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and Wilson Airport from Nairobi, Mombassa International Airport, Malindi and Ukunda (Diani) out of the Coast and Nanyuki Airstrip out of Mt Kenya to all the national parks in Kenya. Scheduled flights are served twice daily morning and afternoon service and on other routes one daily either morning service or afternoon service. It is only Nairobi-Masai Mara route that there are two services daily morning and afternoon but the rest of the destinations have one scheduled flight daily. Out of Mombassa to Masai Mara it works differently as the flight departs Mombassa Morning  and stays in the Masai Mara and departs after lunch for Mombassa serving Ukunda,Malindi and Mombassa airport and the aircrafts used are 13,18 seaters.In the national parks and reserves  the tourists would  see the flamingoes,Elephants,monkeys,gorillas,wildbeasts,Tiger,Rhino,Hippos,Oryx,Lions,snakes,coconut trees, palm trees, acacia trees, rose flowers, fish  just to mention afew.

 

Also there are scheduled flights  to major cities like  Mombasa,Kisumu,Kitale,Eldoret,Daresaalam,Entebbe,Kigali,Bujumbura,Lokichogio,Juba,Rumbek operated from twice daily,4 times daily operated by CRJ  regional  Jets,ATR 42,Embrear 220,Dash 8-400,100 aircrafts just to mention afew. There services are segmented as follows depending with an individual of group need, scenic safaris, helicopter safaris, aerial survey & photography safaris, filming safaris, sight seeing safaris, V.I.P Executive jet flights, Private Executive jet flights etc.Also the services have been tailor-made and thus the services of air ambulance and emergency medical evacuation flights as in the national parks & reserves they only provide first-aid. This is essential and before travel you are advised to take a travel insurance which will cover the geographical area of your safari. In private executive jet flight you will use the citation bravo 550 7 seater which have in-flight services including round table for conference and with spacious roomleg, champagne,hot and soft drinks including continental cuisine of breakfast, lunches,toilet,DVD and any other request a client might  want that is possible. In Tanzania  flights to national parks & reserves  are based in Arusha,Kilimanjaro,Daresaalam,Zanzibar,Mbeya and  most of the scheduled flights are operated  once daily either morning or afternoon apart from Lake Manyara,Serengeti,Seronera,Ngorongoro,Kleins Camp,Maji Moto where there are two services daily morning and afternoon. For charter flights you can hire aircrafts from Mwanza, Daresaalam, Kilimanjaro, Mbeya, Zanzibar to anywhere within East Africa. You can also get direct charter flights from Kenyan national parks or reserves to point of entry /exit in Tanzania.

During the month of mid June to mid October  it is high season and any tourists intending to visit East Africa has to make the reservation by latest April as this is the time for immigration of animals, then  mid October to February  mid season and March to June 15th low season. Incase of sickness or accident all you need to do is to give the lodge manager you card and he/she will contact an air ambulance to airlift you to a well equipped hospital as in national parks & reserves they only give first-aid.
