Yuma is a city in of Yuma County, Arizona, United States. It is one of the hottest cities of any size in the United States. It is located at the point where the Gila and Colorado Rivers converge. It was once a busy river port sending military supplies shipped from California to forts and camps in the Southwest to fight the Apache wars.



Recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the sunniest place on Earth.



The old down town Yuma is located at the northern tip of the city right by Colorado River. This area is used for street fairs and musical events through out the year. The shopping district is similar to those found in towns all over Mexico. The centre of the down town area is fun shopping selection of tourist-geared stores, with collectibles and souvenirs.



The town has a wide range of locally owned stores, charming boutiques and regional cuisine as well as resutants. Yuma Palms Regional open-air centre opened in 2005. it has four main shopping districts, including a village, a power centre, a regional centre and a Restaurant Row.



The Ocean-to-Ocean Highway Bridge was the first bridge for automobiles crossing the Colorado River. It was constructed in 1915 at a cost of 73,800 Dollars. The bridge links the West Coast of the U.S.



Yuma appears in the title of the original 3:10 to Yuma movie, but no part of the Western was filmed in Yuma.



Fort Yuma1849-1885 and Quechan Indian Museum is near the Colorado River near the Territorial Prison. Fort Yuma is one of the oldest military posts associated with the Arizona Territory. It offered protection to settlers and secured the Yuma Crossing. Head quarters for the Quechan Indian Tribe and houses tribal relics.



The prison was built in 1876 and was made famous in western novels and cow boy movies. Yuma Territorial Prison State Park was used between 1876 and 1909, this penitentiary housed many of Arizona's most dangerous and notorious criminals. It is Arizona's most visited State Historic Park. You go through the museum first. There are displays of artifacts and interpretation of prison there.

Disney World Secret Tunnels – More Fun Facts

Hidden from the view of the thousands of Disney World visitors is a labyrinth of out-of-sight tunnels called Utilidors. The term is taken from the words, “utility corridors,” which is a conduit through which utility lines such as sewer, electricity, or water are carried. Of course, the concept can be (and is) expanded to facilitate the movement of many other things – even people.





The Utilidors under the Magic Kingdom are built on nine acres, take up 392,040 square feet of space, and are bustling with action. The floor plan resembles a wheel with spokes, the hub of which lies beneath Cinderella's Castle. From there, the tunnels branch out to all the other “lands.”





The original idea of a system of tunnels stemmed from the fact that Walt Disney was adamant that the integrity of each land “theme” be preserved. He did not like the idea of a youngster seeing someone dressed in a Frontierland costume walking through Tomorrowland, which would spoil the magic. Hence the Utilidors were designed from the outset.





Disney did not dig tunnels under the Magic Kingdom. The fifteen-foot-high corridors were built at ground level. After construction, they were covered with soil taken from excavation of the Seven Seas Lagoon and from the bed of Bay Lake after it was drained. Approximately 5 million square feet of soil was banked over the Utilidors. And thus the secret tunnels were set in place. Essentially, the Utilidors are at the “first floor” level, and the park itself at the second and third levels. With all of the exposed utility lines and pipes, it somewhat resembles a parking garage.





Visitors never see delivery trucks in the Magic Kingdom. Those vehicles arrive through the private access roads and park at the mouth of the tunnels. Cast members also enter through the Utilidors. The walls of the tunnels are color-coded, to make it simple for cast members to tell which land they are in. For those who might be color blind, the names and pictures relating to each land also appear on the walls. Cast Members quickly know where they are and thereby avoid mixing of themes.





Here you will also find service rooms, wardrobe and costuming, male and female locker rooms, offices, storage, kitchens, break rooms, two employee cafeterias, including the Fantasyland Dining Room, Kingdom Kutters, a Fire Prevention Center, Studio "D" and many of the support departments for the Magic Kingdom.





The tunnels are the staging area for all of the Magic Kingdom. Cast members know once they leave one of the access doors, whether their job is to sell Disney goodies at a kiosk, or operate an attraction, or act as a park greeter; they are considered, at that moment, to be onstage.





The massive undertaking of costume dispersal takes place in the Utilidors. Each day, cast members present their bar-coded ID card the window of the costume store. After the card is scanned, the costume is assigned to that cast member. When their work shift is completed, that person takes the costume to the laundry bin located in the Utilidors, once again scans the card and drops the costume into the bin. Voila! It will be laundered and ready for the next time it’s needed.





The control room for the parades is also located in the Utilidors. Disney keeps track of all the parades through the amazing use of sensors that are built into the streets along the parade route which correspond to sensors built into the floats. The people who work in the large parade control center can monitor the movement of all the floats for stopping and starting throughout the whole parade route. Just another one of the little hidden innerworkings of the Magic Kingdom.





For safety reasons, the vehicles allowed in the Utilidors are all battery-operated – many of which are golf carts. One exception of a gas-powered vehicle navigating the tunnels is the armored truck that comes in to pick up the daily cash. (It is said that the cash office is in a very secret location and that many cast members don’t even know where it’s located.) The only other exception of a gas-powered vehicle being admitted, is an ambulance and that is only in the case of an extreme emergency.





The next time you visit Disney World and see an unmarked door, remember the Utilidors. There are many hidden entrances throughout the park. So now you know how the cast members and workers seem to “magically” appear. That magic is due, in part, to the Utilidors, but the Utilidors are due entirely to the incredible foresight and imagination of the man named Walt Disney.

Paris is made up of 20 arrondissements or districts. There is no logical numerical order. The romantic river Seine separates the two sides, simply known as left and right bank.



Place de la Bastille (4th, 11th and 12th arrondissements, right bank) is a historical district and as it shows the illogical numbering of the districts. The arrondissements are numbered like a snail. So the actual numbers of the arrondissements can alter every two blocks or so depending on the direction that you walk.



Les Halles (1st arrondissement, right bank) was formerly Paris' central meat and produce market, since the late 1970s a major shopping center around an important metro connection station, Chatelet. In the past Les Halles was destroyed in 1971 and replaced by the Forum des Halles. The central market of Paris, the biggest wholesale food market in the world, was transferred to Rungis, in the southern suburbs.



Le Marais (3rd and 4th arrondissements) is in the trendy Right Bank district. With large gay and Jewish populations it is a very culturally diverse. The Latin Quarter (5th arrondissements, left bank) is a twelfth century scholastic center formerly stretching between the Left Bank's Place Maubert and the Sorbonne campus. It is known for its lively atmosphere and many bistros.



Montmartre (18th arrondissement, right bank) is a historic area on the Butte. Montmartre has always had a history with artists and has many studios and of many great artists in that area.



Montparnasse (14th arrondissement) is a historic Left Bank area famous for artists studios, music halls, and bistro life. The large Montparnasse Blvd and the lone Tour Montparnasse skyscraper are located there.

Faubourg Saint-Honore (8th arrondissement, right bank) is one of Paris' high-fashion districts, home to labels such as Hermes and Christian Lacroix. Avenue Montaigne (8th arrondissement), next to the Champs Elysees, is home to luxury brand labels such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton (LVMH), Dior and Givenchy. Champs Elysees (8th arrondissement, right bank) is a seventeenth century garden-promenade turned avenue connecting the Concorde and Arc de Triomphe.



It is one of the many tourist attractions and a major shopping street of Paris. This avenue has been called "la plus belle avenue du monde" ("the most beautiful avenue in the world"). Place de la Concorde (8th arrondissement, right bank) is at the foot of the Champs-Elysees, built as the "Place Louis XV", site of the infamous guillotine. The Egyptian obelisk is Paris' "oldest monument". On this place, on the two side of the Rue Royale live two identical stone buildings: the eastern houses the French Naval Ministry, the western the luxurious Hotel de Crillon.



Nearby Place Vendome is famous for its fashionable and deluxe hotels (Hotel Ritz and Hotel de Vendome) and its jewellers. Many famous fashion designers have had their salons in the square.

Meeting People


In general the British prefer to be introduced to strangers, if at all possible wait for a third party introduction when meeting someone new.





Physical Greetings


Great Britain (especially England) is a non touching culture. When greeting someone a handshake accompanied by a “Pleased to meet you” is appropriate. When departing be sure to shake everyone’s hand, a general group wave as is often done in the United States is not looked on favorably.





Physical Space


The British value space between one another.





Eye Contact


Strong eye contact is not overly common among strangers and casual acquaintances, too much eye contact is considered and invasion of privacy. Eye contact is used when one really wants to make a point, when speaking with close friends, and when interest in a person or topic wants to be stressed.





Good Topics of Discussion


If all else fails mention the weather!





Bad Topics of Discussion


Politics, religion, and sex. Also the common American question “what do you do?” is considered rude and too personal.





Communication Style


The British are a big fan of the understatement; this is shown in their choice of words (“indeed”, “quite”), their volume (almost always quieter than other cultures) and body language (when first meeting facial expressions are kept to a minimum). Gestures are kept to a minimum and a polite self possessed manner is strived for.





Waiting in Line


Waiting in line (or queuing) is a never ending occurrence in the UK. You will find lines at every public facility, event, meet-up, etc. No matter how long the line is always go to the back and wait, and stay in line no matter how long it takes.





Walking


In the United Kingdom one walks on the left hand side and passes on the right.





Shopping


Customer service is not as “in your face” as it is in the United States. Generally a salesclerk will ignore you until eye contact is made signaling service is required.





When shopping at the grocery store be aware that if you touch the fruits or vegetables—you buy them.





Public Transportation


Always wait in line for a taxi, bus or train. When on the bus or train it is polite to give up your seat for the elderly, handicapped, pregnant women and parents with children.





When you board a taxi cab be sure to enter the cab from the opposite side of the driver and to sit in the back.





Tipping


Standard amounts are 10 to 15 percent. Services that are tipped are generally the same as those that are tipped for in the United States.





At a hotel bellmen are generally tipped 1 to 2 pounds per bag.





Appropriate Dress


Styles of dress are similar to those of the USA; however colors are often more muted (especially outside London).





Meal Time


Breakfast is typically from 7 to 9 AM.


A traditional “English Breakfast” is a large hearty meal consisting of: bacon, sausage (“bangers”) toast/croissants/muffins/scones, juice, fried potatoes, eggs, cereal and juice. Tea & coffee are also commonly taken.





A traditional “Irish Breakfast” is called a “fry up” and consists of fried eggs, bacon (boiled pork, the name for American style “bacon” is “rashers”) tomatoes, hot cereal, potatoes and juice.





Lunch is typically from 12 to 2 PM


Standard pub fare tend to make up Lunch—sandwiches, salads, etc.





High Tea & Regular Tea


Standard “Tea” is taken between 4 and 5 PM and consists of cakes, sweets, finger sandwiches and of course—tea.





Traditional High Tea is taken around 5 PM and is often a substitute for Dinner. High Tea includes all the fixings of a standard tea but includes a hot dish as well (pot pie, etc.)





Dinner is typically from 7-9 PM, with 8:00 being the traditional time. Formal dinners begin with an alcoholic drink followed by an appetizer.





Table Manners


The British do not switch their knife and fork as people do in the States. The fork remains in the left hand and the knife in the right hand.





Placing your utensils down on your plate signifies to wait staff that you are finished.





When not in use keep your hands in your lap and pass dishes to the left.





Who Pays?


In general the person who did the inviting is the person that pays.

4.) Sip some tea



Essentially, the Japanese are people who prefer everything to be clean and serene, that's why they love such peaceful activities as drinking, or rather, sipping tea. While you're in Japan, you should at least experience authentic Japanese tea. Or better yet, you can participate in the Japanese Tea Ceremony, a festival held both in Kyoto and Tokyo.



5.) Play in the snow



In some parts of the year, particularly in winter, Japan gets coated in a blanket of pristine white snow. During this time of the year, it would do you well to have some fun in Japan's steep ski slopes. You can even partake in the Snow Festival where ice parties take place for a whole seven days and where you can see beautiful ice sculptures.



6.) Relax in the hot springs



And, if your muscles need to loosen up a bit, why don't you give yourself a treat by visiting one of the many hot springs. These can be found in most parts of Japan, especially in Okinawa. The relaxing steam is sure to make you feel like you've shed a very heavy load.



7.) Become a samurai

Why I Quit Dating Pattaya Go-Go Girls!

Some time ago, a hot Friday night, I was sitting in a popular Pattaya gogo bar in Walking Street. I think it was Baccara or maybe Shark, but that's not important. I got there at 10 pm with a friend. Now, none of us are regulars in Pattaya's gogo bars, but we do go once in a while to have a few drinks, share some laughs and of course chat with the very attractive girls in Baccara. Anyway, the place was packed, absolutely packed, not a seat open. There were certainly some very good looking girls that night, but they were all busy chatting up the latest fresh-of-the-boat tourist that they could talk into buying them drinks all night. There was probably 3 punters to each 1 girls, which made it seem a lot like being back hom. It struck me: There's got to be a better way to meet Pattaya girls and there is!

I think we can all agree that barhopping in Pattaya is great fun and it would take forever to see it all, but there comes a time when the bar scene gets a little stale. For some Pattaya residents this happens faster than others, but most eventually scale back on the partying.

That's not really the reason for looking for Pattaya girls outside the bar though. The thing is, if you are looking for a real relationship in Pattaya then you won't find it in the bars. Yes, some couples have emerged from the union of bar girl - bar patron, but most relationships fail because of lack of trust over the way you met. When you're in the bar, you are per definition a customer and that means it's the bar girl/hostess job to sell drinks. That's the job description. That is no good in my opinion. Relationships should not be entered into from a monetary relation.
